A few years back we had lost one of our dearest fur babies to cancer. Our home needed the pitter patter of another fur baby. We were looking for a dachshund. We heard about a pet adoption at the fairground. We looked and looked for another lil guy to bring home. No luck. Just as we were about to leave, a man overheard me saying something about wanting a dachshund. He directed us to a lil guy in a big cage with a tail that looked like a divining rod. We fell in love with a lil red/brown 6 yo chiweenie named Fritz. Fritzy was brought there by the CARE organization. He was about 5 lbs of love. His history consisted of going through a hurricane in the keys acquiring back problems which his sweet prior owners couldn’t afford, so he was sent up here to Tallahassee to have a laminectomy. Recovering in ICU, Fritzy started to bleed out, that’s when a duct problem in his heart was noted. Heart surgery ensued thereafter. Then at some point we came along, fell in love, and now lil Fritzy runs our house.
